When it comes to multifunction displays for navigation on the water, a lot of options and a lot of aspects need to be taken into consideration. Having so many useable systems, one may even in the beggining feel overwhelmed by the amount of options. However, for a compact and efficient system that will get the job done and stand the test of time (conditions) two choices clearly stand above the others: the Raymarine C Series models and the Raymarine E Series models. Here, we’re going to be investigating the benefits of the Raymarine E Series and having a view of some of the deviations between the E80 and E120.

The Raymarine E Series navigation systems utilize Raymarin’s exclusive Ultra-Bright Sunlight Viewable display technology. This guarantees fantabulous contrast and wide viewing angle.   The screen itself is completely customizable, and each page can be viewed with multiple windows or as full screen.

These schemes could be integrated with other E Series displays as part of a SeaTalkHS network, or can be used as stand-alone screens. The E Series units allow 3D Navionics Platinum Plus chartplotting, radar, HD Digital fishfinder, Sirius satellite radio, and marine weather.   Instrumentation and video applications are viewed in user-defined customizable pages.

As a standard feature, these units support Raymarine’s exclusive SeaTalkHS network protocol. This enables sharing of radar, chartplotting, fishfinder, weather and navigation between E series units. With SeaTalk and SeaTalk2/SeaTalkNG, you’ll have no problem integrating either system with Raymarine instruments and autopilots. In addition, industry standards NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 are supported so that third party electronics are also readily integrated.

These models come equipped with 4 video input jacks for easy combination with Raymarine marine cameras, CCTV cameras, satellite television, receivers, infrared cameras and more.   Because of the easy-to-use multipage option, each video input can be viewed either full-screen or within a window alongside other navigation displays.   Also included is a VGA video output port for connection to remote monitors and entertainment systems. Affording additional control, there is an optional remote control keyboard useable.

All units are built on a sturdy aluminum chassis and waterproof to CFR46 standards. They include both a handy trunion mounting bracket and a low-profile flush mounting kit for a clean, unobtrusive helm.

The Raymarine E80 kit comes with an owner’s manual, quick reference guide, full-face suncover, trunion mounting kit, flush mounting kit, NMEA input/output cable, power cable, SeaTalk/auxiliary alarm cable, SeaTalkhs network cable, and 4-channel composite video input cable.

The differences in these two models comes in size and, because of the size difference, cost.   The E80 is an 8. 4″ unit that will run the buyer about ,200. The E120, by comparison, is a 12. 1″ model that is intended for bigger boats.   This model costs ,600.

Raymarine C Series Navigation – Multifunction Displays

When it comes to multifunction displays for navigation out on the water, a ton of alternatives and a lot of characteristics need to be taken into consideration. With a large number of available systems, one may even at the start feel overcome by the number of selections.   However, for a compact and effective system that will get the job done and stand the test of time (and water) two choices clearly stand above the rest: the Raymarine C Series models and the Raymarine E Series models.   Here, we’re going to be exploring the benefits of the Raymarine C Series and taking a look at some of the differences between the C70, C80 and C120.

The Raymarine C Series all come complete with components for GPS sensor, radar, HD Digital sounder module, SIRIUS satellite radio, and Marine Weather. So, regardless of the circumstance you will be aware of where you’re located, where you’re headed, and how the weather will be when you arrive.  To top it off, you’ll always have a nearly perpetual choice of tunes for the journey. 130 commercial-free stations, to be precise.

All of the C Series systems support Raymarine’s SeaTalk and Seatalk2/SeatalkNG navigation networks for communication with navigation networks and autopilots.   Also, all models support the industry standard NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 for integration with third party electronics as well as electronic engine mounting.

The Raymarine C Series units all come with an owner’s manual, quick reference guide, full-face suncover, trunion mounting kit, flush mounting kit, NMEA input/output cable, power cable, and SeaTalk cable.

All of the Raymarine C Series utilize the latest in LCD technology, so that they are direct-sunlight visible and easy to read.   The screens are clear, with high resolution and high contrast.   The units feature a 640×840 pixel transflective LCD panel with 256 different colors. The picture remains clear under the most challenging of lighting conditions, and out on the open water, lighting conditions couldn’t be more challenging.

The only deviation among the three models in the Raymarine C Series are their sizes and price. The C70 display is about 6. 5″ and is best for mounting on either the helm or the center console of a vessel. This devise runs at a standard 1,455. The C80 screen is 8. 4″ and better suited to the helm and costs a bit more, at 2,040. The C120 is the biggest and most brilliant of the series, with a display of 12. 1″ that is meant to be installed in or on a helm or dashboard. The largest of the series, this unit costs 2,455.

Each of these systems operates at basically the same level.   It is the space available on the boat that dictates which system is right for you. While the C70 is a very good selection, the C120 is a more detailed system in its size and can be viewed clearly from anywhere in the cockpit.   All of these systems are rugged and waterproof.   They include their own mounting brackets and low-profile flush mounting kit.
